Amsterdam

A unique view of one of the most frequented cities in Europe. There is no mistaking Amsterdam from this stunning example of 16th-17th century cartography. The Netherlands’ capital and largest city is magnificently encapsulated in this beautiful drawing. Situated in the western part of the country, in North Holland, the city boasts the River Amstel. Historically situated 2 metres below sea level, the map clearly depicts Amsterdam’s series of infamous canals that connect around 90 small islands. The landscape of this wonderful city remained very similar until the Second World War, during which it suffered a great deal of damage and destruction. Subtly coloured, but intrinsically detailed, this wonderful map makes the perfect addition to any room and is brought even more to life when framed.
