Engraved by Jodocus Hondius in 1602       for the Parisian publisher Jean Le Clerc

A little known twin hemisphere chart that is of great charm. Includes names of winds, fascinating charts detailing the phases of the moon and climate zones, an astronomy diagram and a magnificent compass. Note the large unknown area to the south. A wonderful record of how the world was understood at the start of the 1600's by the eminent scientists and geographers of the time.
