The monotone map of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was created as a general introduction to the series of regional and County maps in Speed's atlas The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain.
It is the only map to show all three of the kingdoms on one page. It also places the British Isles geographically, with respect to Europe
